THURSDAY 7th DECEMBER 2006 - WOLVES VISION EPISODE 1
WEDNESDAY 6th DECEMBER 2006 - WOLVES NEW Football Committee in Place
As a further indication of the changing face of the Wolves, a new committee has been formed to handle the football affairs of the club.
The Wolves have progressed through a period of transition over the last 12 months.
It was recognised that the club would need to reposition itself within the football landscape after the final year of the National Soccer League. This transition has not been easy as the club had struggled to come to terms with the differing requirements of the NSW Premier League in terms of resource availability, playing staff, long term strategy etc.
The past 12 months have seen a period of restructure. The club has positioned itself to represent the best interests of the entire football community and to become more closely aligned with its support base. The club sees itself as the pathway that all talented players within the region will take to move on to further advancements in the football world. At the same time our commitment to the young people of the region has taken an ever more important position within the club. We are committed to continuing our schools programmes, always looking to improve our development programmes, creating alliances with other respected football bodies within the area such as the Illawarra Junior Soccer Association and Coerver from a development point of view.
The future of the Wolves is inextricably connected to the development at Lysaghts which we see as providing a true home for football in the area.
The site already includes the administrative base for:-
The Wollongong Wolves
Illawarra Junior Soccer Association
Illawarra Women’s Soccer Association
Illawarra Stingrays
Illawarra Amateur Football Association
Wollongong Olympic Soccer Club
One of the first priorities of this new committee is to see the full integration of football onto the site. The new committee members all have links to football in one manner or the other and a strong desire to see the Wolves re-establish their links with the football community of the Illawarra. At the same time the committee is intent on providing the right environment for the development of young players and subsequent evolution of a strong and stable club.
The Committee Members are:-
Craig Osborne – Russell McLelland Brown Lawyers – Chairperson
John Ashley – South Coast Graphics
Mirko Milic – Keira Ford
Vic Cuoco – Verekers Lawyers
John Lambert – Lambert Kitchens
Andrew Byron – Football Express
Max Chiodo – South Coast Graphics
Val Zanotto – Wollongong City Councillor
David Wallace – Wolves Supporters Group Co-Coordinator and Wolves Education Officer
We believe that this committee is fully equipped to integrate the Wolves into the Illawarra Football landscape and commence a strong period of growth for the club in tandem with the development of Lysaghts for the benefit of all football stakeholders of the Illawarra.
FRIDAY 1st DECEMBER 2006 - WOLVES sign former Australian Under 20 Youth International
The Wollongong Wolves are very excited about their latest signing for the upcoming 2007 NSW Premier League season. Defender Wayne Heath has signed for the coming season after spending the past year and a half with Craiova FC in the Romanian First Division.
The 23 year old found it hard to adjust to lifestyle requirements in Romania and sees the upcoming NSW Premier League as an opportunity to press his claims for an A-League birth in the future.
Currently living in Brisbane he will move to the Illawarra in the New Year to commence his pre season training with his new squad mates, Wayne played for Brisbane Strikers in the old National League and lists being in the Australian team that beat Brazil in the Under 20 Youth World Cup in the UAE as a career highlight.
He has worked previously with John Turner at Bonnyrigg White Eagles and believes that Turner will be able to help him achieve his goals.
The signing of Heath brings to 17 the number of players signed by the Wolves for the upcoming season.
An informal get together is planned for lunch time Saturday 2nd December at the Orb Bowling Club at Figtree commencing at 12 midday. Wolves supporters can drop in and meet some of the players as they begin preparations for the new season.
FRIDAY 17th NOVEMBER 2006 - WOLVES Invite ALL to the MEET the PLAYERS BBQ on DECEMBER 2nd

TUESDAY 14th NOVEMBER 2006 - WOLVES Sign Former IFA PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Photo Courtesy of the Illawarra Mercury
The Wolves have signed former IFA Player of the Year for 2005 Denis Jurjevic on a loan arrangement from IFA Premier League side South Coast United.
An exciting attacking player, Jurjevic is sure to add flair and pace to the Wolves squad.
His signing is an example of one of the long term strategies of the club in providing opportunities for the best players of the local IFA Premier League to expose and advance themselves in a higher level of football.
The Wolves are grateful to South Coast United in allowing Denis to come to the Wolves on a loan arrangement as his contractual obligations with that club covered the 2007 season.
His signing brings to 15 the number of players who have signed for the 2007 NSW Premier League. The club expects to be able to make additional announcements over the coming fortnight with regards to other players it will have on its roster for the 2007 season.
WEDNESDAY 8th NOVEMBER 2006 - CHIMA Returns to the DEN
Exciting Nigerian striker and one time Wolves Golden Boot winner Chimaobi Nwaogazi or “Chima” as he is known, has re-joined the club after a period playing with Bankstown in the NSW Premier League.
Always a popular figure with supporters his signing is expected to generate further
confidence for the coming season within the club and supporters alike.
Chima cites that the fact that The Wolves” gave him his first opportunity in senior football in this country” as one of the major considerations in him “coming back to the Den”.
He is looking forward to meeting up with his many friends in the region and hopes to reacquaint himself with Wolves supporters by scoring as many goals as possible.
He also believes that it will benefit him working under John Turner and John Calleja once more.
His signing continues the Wolves playing roster buildup for the coming season. The club believes that the signing of these experienced players will generate the correct environment for the education of the younger players in our senior club. Our youth team will comprise predominantly 17 year olds and the experience of training and at times playing alongside these players will only be beneficial for their own advancement.

MONDAY 16th OCTOBER 2006 - Coerver and Wolves Juniors Providing Development Pathway
In what can only be described as a move in the right direction, and in an endeavour to give the talented young players of the Illawarra a clear view of where they are heading Glen Fontana of The Coerver Academy and Dennis Trevor of the Wollongong Wolves Juniors have for the first time pooled their ideas and resources in the following manner:-
a)To supply a continuous program that will equip the player with the necessary skills, know how and tactical awareness to challenge for success at the highest level.
b)To create a visible pathway that will see a number of players in the short term participate in the IJSA Metropolitan League Grade 12 side of 2007.
c)Endeavour in the mid term to hopefully bring a number of players to the necessary standard so as to be selected for the Grade 13 Premier Youth League side at the Wolves for season 2008.
This is an exciting development for the young players of the Illawarra. It is hoped that this will be a forerunner to a totally structured programme that leads players from the age of 8 all the way to the Wolves youth and first grade squad. Further progression to representative honors would then be the aim. The Illawarra area is recognised as producing many talented players. The Wolves are extremely pleased that the main contributors to the youth development process of this area are pooling their resources to give talented young players every opportunity to achieve success in football.

SUNDAY 7th MAY 2006 - Young WOLVES unlucky not to get a point
In today's First Grade match the Wolves started terribly with an early lapse of concentration which saw former Wolves player Sean Babic played a neat step over to lay it back to Chima Nwaogazi who blasted into our net from close range. 1-0 to Bankstown after just 2 minutes. The Wolves hit back after a good through ball to Casey who made space out to the right who fired into the goal mouth and got Aliffi on the end of his cross and fired home the equaliser just 10 minutes before half time.
The Wolves started the second half much the same as they finished it off but a silly foul in the area gave Bankstown a penalty which was converted in the 9th minute by Chima who scored his second. Shortly after it was 3 - 1 when Babic headed in on his knees from a lob from Chima. On the 15th minute mark of the second half an absolute screamer from well over 25m out from Vedran Jaganjac who fired a bullet into the top of the net to peg the scores back to 3-2 and a Wolves revival looked well and truly on the cards.
The remainder of the match was a real dogfight by the WOLVES and they were unlucky not to get a draw in the end.
SUNDAY 7th MAY 2006 - Young WOLVES unlucky not to get a point
In today's match the young Wolves started with alot of promise and had ample chances to start the scoring but for about 3 or 4 brilliant saves by the Lions keeper. A screaming curling effort by Breagan O'Connor was thwarted by the Keeper who touched it out and over the top left corner to keep his side at 0-0. It wasn't until the 40th minute when a sharp goal was taken by the Lions. The second half started nervously for the Wolves and they went behind 2-0 after a great strike by a "ROONEY" look alike who buried it in our goal. The Wolves didn't give up though and were back in the game just two minutes later when a superb free kick from Kurt Saterdag found the top corner and pegged it back to 2-1. The Wolves should have leveled the scores but were denied what looked like a certain Penalty when Jason D'amico was fouled in the area.
The Wolves attacked throughout the remainder of the match but could not level the scores.
THURSDAY 4th MAY 2006 - More Progress on Lysaghts Development

Halftime was 3-1 to Sydney United and it was no different in the second half for the unfortunate Wolves. The Wolves suffered a further blow when they had Steve Hayes marched for his second yellow later in the second half. The Wolves also had a number of players missing from their line up including prolific goalscorer Adam Casey who was away with the QANTAS U-23s Training squad in preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. With Adam away and Tony Perenich out injured the Wolves started the match without a recongnised striker. Blacktown scored 4 goals within the final 15 minutes of the first half and the first 15 minutes of the second half. The Wolves replied by
Kurt Saterdag in the 69th minute but could not peg back the determined Blacktown outfit who got 2 more late goals in the game to take the score to an unfair reflection of the game.

Three first half goals to the Wolves sent them to the break full of confidence. Goals to Daniel Aliffi (16, 38 min) and Adam Casey (30 min) looked like the young Wolves had well and truly turned the corner after their first win last week. HT - Wolves 3-1
However a Tony Farriah hatrick and a Buenovoglia Penalty and another final goal in the dying seconds of the game would hand Marconi an entertaining win. It was a galant display by the Wolves and many at the ground said the Wolves had been the best side to visit Marconi so far this year!
Final Score - MARCONI 5 defeated Wollongong WOLVES 3
G20 - Marconi 3 defeated Wolves 0

SUNDAY 12th MARCH 2006 - Casey Hat Trick Earns Wolves First Win
The Wollongong Wolves are bringing ALL 3 Points home to Wollongong tonight following their outstanding come from behind victory over the Bankstown Lions. It was a sensational hat trick by 19 year old Adam Casey that won it for the Wolves after they went behind 2-0 in the early stages of the second half. It was a great turn around for the Wolf Pack following 2 previous performances where they lapsed in concentration at the same stage as they swung into action tonight.
Wollongong Wolves 3 defeated Banktown Lions 2
In the earlier game the G20 youth team were unlucky to be beaten 1-0 and should have at least deserved a draw for their effort.
THURSDAY 9th MARCH 2006 - Balla Signs For 2 Years
Wolves General Manager Jock Morlando has announced -
"Former Guinean international Ballamadou Conde has committed to the Wollongong Wolves until the end of the 2007 season by signing a new contract today. The Wolves captain has also decided to relocate his young family to the Wolongong area and believes that this will help his own game and also his contribution to the team and club.
The signing of an extended contract is the first of a number of signings which are expected to follow. This will ensure that the club will start the following season with a core playing roster in place. The signing also falls in line with the club policy of following a plan of gradual growth.
Coach Eddie Tesoro is pleased to have his key player on board and part of the Wolves future plans. “He is the type of player that we can build our squad around over the coming years".
FRIDAY 3rd MARCH 2006 - WOLVES defeated by the hands of LOCALS!
Tonight's VODAFONE Premier League game at WIN STADIUM saw a cruel twist of fate when it was local players Shane McGirr and Mitchell Blowes who won the game for APIA. The 2-0 victory for APIA was orchestrated at the hands of a brace to McGirr whilst Blowes saved 3 certain goals that would have given the Wolves more than a glimmer of hope. In the earlier game the Wolves G20 youth team defeated APIA 1-0.
